The night is bright when the phone rings. A strange voice from the other side of the world. Cookie’s mother, Ingela, is alone in the house, and her entire world is torn apart by the call. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, her son, Cookie, is being pressed into a dark cell, packed to the breaking point with bodies. There, between sweat, humidity, and maddened voices, what he once knew as his life disappears.

“Request for clemency; alternatively, a petition for the government to instruct the Prosecutor-General to submit an application to the court for a new sentence to be determined; alternatively, a request for conditional release.“

Skåne resident sentenced to 28 years in prison in Cambodia – seeks Pardon
“Sentenced to 28 years in prison – after 14 years, he is requesting clemency.
A man from northwestern Skåne was sentenced in 2012 to 28 years in prison in Cambodia for a drug offense.
He is now seeking clemency from the government and the Prosecutor-General.
The man has now served 14 years of his sentence and, in his new application, is asking the Prosecutor-General to determine a new sentence or, alternatively, to request conditional release.”

Imprisoned Swede in Cambodia requests clemency
“A man from Skåne, who was transferred to a Swedish prison in 2023 after being detained for nearly twelve years in Cambodia, is now seeking clemency from the government, reports the news agency Siren.
The man has been convicted of drug offenses. In his application, he describes a “flagrantly unfair” trial.
The man’s representative writes in the clemency application that the man is the only person in Sweden serving a prison sentence that is set to last more than 18 years, reports Siren.
The man primarily requests that the government grant him full clemency, and secondarily, that it refers the matter to the Prosecutor-General to apply to the court for a new sentence to be determined.”
